About
I am an ML/AI researcher and data scientist specializing in computer vision, low-resource natural language processing (NLP), and edge AI. I currently serve as a Research Assistant under Dr. Rowell M. Hernandez at Batangas State University and contribute as a researcher at MMDT-RISE.
I graduated with a Master of Science in Data Science (General Weighted Average: 1.1250, where 1.0 is highest) from Batangas State University as a recipient of the IIE Myanmar Student Emergency Support (MSES) Fund by the Institute of International Education. Prior to that, I completed my Bachelor of Computer Technology at the University of Computer Studies, Mandalay (UCSM).
Research Focus
My research interests center on developing lightweight and resource-efficient AI models tailored for field conditions and low-resource settings:
- Edge AI & Model Compression: Designing compact architectures (such as attention-augmented CNNs) and applying static quantization to run deep learning models offline on consumer mobile devices.
- Low-Resource NLP: Researching text segmentation, named entity recognition, and linguistic representation for the Myanmar (Burmese) language.
- Smart Agriculture: Building offline-capable diagnostic tools for crop diseases to assist smallholder farming communities without reliable internet connectivity.
Background
Before focusing on academic research, I spent several years working in systems and network engineering:
- World Health Organization (WHO Myanmar): Administered national eHealth infrastructure (DHIS2, OpenMRS) supporting data collection and health indicators for over 1,000 public health users.
- CESVI Myanmar: Developed agricultural data pipelines and mobile reporting tools across 130 villages in the Dry Zone, training local farming communities in digital tools.
- Huawei Technologies: Supported enterprise cloud and carrier infrastructure projects in Myanmar.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exploring classical machine learning from scratch, writing occasional guides on my blog, and sharing tech videos on YouTube.
